Genesis Young Leaders

Founded in 2001, Genesis Young Leaders (GYL) is a group of young professionals aged 21-35 who share a commitment to ending domestic violence in our community.

The mission of GYL is to spread awareness around the issue of domestic violence through volunteerism, education and community stewardship. Members have the opportunity to volunteer monthly with the children staying at our shelter, attend educational events & networking happy hours and host one of the cornerstone events of the year, Genesis Masquerade.

Genesis Young Leaders believe that if we all work together the spread the same message, we can put an end to domestic violence.

GYL Opportunities

  • Educational networking opportunities at Genesis at Lucas where members from GYL, Alliance and HeROs are invited to hear from Genesis staff on facets of domestic violence.

  • Join fellow young leaders at the Genesis Benefit Thrift Store to assist staff with store operations and see firsthand how our thrift store impacts clients.

  • We plan happy hours at various locations in Dallas every other month so GYL members can connect with fellow or prospective members.

Masquerade

Presented by Genesis Young Leaders, Masquerade is a black-tie affair that encourages young professionals to get involved with community philanthropy. Including live music, roaming dinner and signature cocktails, Masquerade is a night of fun and fundraising that helps support the life-saving services provided at Genesis Women’s Shelter.

A Patron Membership refers to a regular membership with an additional monetary donation. The added contribution is used to provide life-changing services to the 3,700 women and children who rely on Genesis each year.
