    Show kids the importance of giving back with our new volunteer program, Kids 4 Kids! We invite kids aged K-8th grade and their guardians to attend volunteer evenings where they can work on kid-appropriate crafts that our clients can enjoy. Get your young philanthropists involved today!

Volunteer Orientation & Opportunities

To volunteer at Genesis you must attend a volunteer orientation. Volunteer orientations teach you about our programs and services, and help you determine the best fit for them with Genesis Women’s Shelter. Once you complete your interest form you will be contacted by our Volunteer Manager with upcoming orientation dates.

Here are some popular volunteer opportunities at Genesis!

  • Experience the magic of the Genesis Benefit Thrift Store by seeing firsthand how it impacts our organization! All proceeds from the shop go directly back to Genesis. Additionally, our women and children can shop here for free!

    Volunteers will assist staff in the donation drive-through center, merchandise inventory, and greeting customers.

    Available volunteer shifts at the Genesis Benefit Thrift Store:

    Monday - Saturday | 9:30am-12:30pm or 1:30pm-4:30pm

    Sunday | 12:30pm-4:30pm.

  • Help our Genesis at Lucas office staff organize and inventory donations, assist the Fund Development team with special projects, or provide overall support with day-to-day office operations to ensure smooth functioning.

    Volunteers interested in being an office angel must undergo a background check before volunteering.

  • Support our fundraising efforts by joining a host committee for an upcoming special event.

  • Come spend time at our Outreach Office on Lucas, playing board games or facilitating a fun, creative activity! While receiving treatment, moms can have peace of mind knowing that their kiddos are safe and happy being cared for just a few rooms away. Volunteers will work alongside our childcare staff.

    You must have a background check done by us before volunteering for this opportunity.

  • We proudly partner with the Volunteer Center of North Texas in order to help individuals meet their required court-appointed community service hours. All court-ordered volunteers will perform their hours at the Genesis Benefit Thrift Store located at 3419 Knight Street, Dallas, TX 75219. Please bring all required paperwork you received from the court.
